Over 30 lakh students of Class 9 to 12 in Gujarat will take their first test of the academic year, beginning today. The exams will be held at more than 12,000 government, government-aided and private schools across the state and will continue till October 23.
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) had announced this schedule in its academic calendar earlier in July. According to the Board, the first academic session will officially end on October 27, four days after the exams. Following this, students will enjoy a 21-day Diwali vacation from October 28 to November 17.
The exams will cover the syllabus from June to September. After the exams, schools will begin evaluation, with plans to release results in the second academic session starting November 18.
The second term will have 135 days, ending on May 4.
The students will take their second set of exams, including prelims, between January 20 and 28.
The board exams for Class 10 and 12 students will begin earlier next year.
