Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja, who belongs to the Jamnagar royal family, has been declared as the heir to the throne by incumbent Jam Saheb Shatrusalyasinhji Digvijaysinhji Jadeja. The announcement came on the eve of Dussehra.
In a signed announcement, the Jam Saheb said: “Pandavas completed their 14-year exile on Dussehra and won. I am happy that on this auspicious day my dilemma has come to an end as Ajay Jadeja has agreed to become my inheritor and fulfill his responsibility towards the people of Jamnagar. I thank him from the bottom of my heart.”
The Jamnagar royal family, to which Jadeja belongs, has a rich cricket legacy. Jadeja’s relatives include K S Ranjitsinhji and K S Duleepsinhji, who are honored with the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy, respectively.
Ajay Jadeja’s father Daulatsinhji Jadeja was a three-time Member of Parliament from Jamnagar Lok Sabha seat.
