A new underground tank with a capacity of 111 lakh litres and a pumping station has been approved to resolve drinking water supply issues in areas spanning from Shivranjani Crossroads to Jhansi Ki Rani statue and from Kenyug Crossroads to Shyamal Crossroads. The Rs 30.17 crore project was sanctioned during a meeting of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) water and sewerage committee on Monday.
The tank will be constructed near the Jhansi Ki Rani statue in Navrangpura Ward, where water supply pressure has been insufficient. With new buildings being developed in this greenbelt area, upgrading the water supply infrastructure has become essential. Once completed, the project will ensure adequate water supply to approximately 50,000 residents in the greenbelt and nearby areas. The committee also approved the construction of a new water distribution station in Ambawadi.
Additionally, the committee has approved a maintenance contract worth Rs 85.54 lakh for the Jaspur water treatment plant, which supplies water to the Northwest and Southwest zones. The contract includes repairing leaks in the main and branch lines of the water supply network.
