A minor girl who was out to meet her friend in Gujarat’s Vadodara was allegedly gang-raped by two men early on Saturday morning, the police said, adding that a manhunt has been launched to track down three accused in the case.
Rohan Anand, Vadodara District Superintendent of Police, said that the incident took place in a deserted location on the outskirts of Vadodara city.
Anand said “The girl and her parents have told that she left her home at around 11 pm to meet her childhood friend. Together, they decided to ride her friend’s two-wheeler to a location on the outskirts of the city where they were talking when five men riding on two motorcycles arrived and began abusing them,”.
Anand added that while two of the five men rode away on a motorcycle, three men stayed back and committed the crime. “The girl and her friend have said that while one of the men overpowered him, two others took turns to rape her… The police received the information just before 1 am and a team immediately rushed to the spot to cordon off the area…,” Anand said.
“We have also sought help from the Vadodara city Detection of Crime Branch to track down the accused and the forensic teams are at the spot to gather the evidence,”.
The police have recovered a few pieces of jewellery worn by the girl as well as some gadgets belonging to the accused from the spot, Anand said. “The girl and her friend have given a physical description and described the dialect of the accused. We have put in all our might to nab the accused as soon as we can and we are confident that we will have them soon…,” Anand added.
The minor has been sent for a medical examination and her condition is stable, he further said.
