Torrent Group’s charitable arm, UNM Foundation on Wednesday dedicated to the citizens of Ahmedabad, a newly-developed public park in Naroda. The park is 10th Public Garden developed and being managed under UNM Foundation’s PRATITI Initiative in Ahmedabad.
The Naroda Garden with a total area of 6,766 sq mt, is located at TP-121, FP-145, near Panacea Residency in the Naroda Ward of AMC’s North Zone.
Some of the Facilities & Amenities at the Garden:
· Large entrance gate with a wheelchair-accessible ramp.
· A seating plaza located outside the park for relaxation.
· Seating options with concrete-terrazzo and metallic benches.
· A 750 meters Charu pathway with fire brick curbing for an enhanced walking and jogging experience.
· Children’s play area equipped with play structures.
· Open gym.
· Lighting for evening and night-time visitors.
· A peripheral compound wall with A1 fencing.
· Essential infrastructure including a borewell, an underground water tank, and a utility room.
· A recharge well to promote sustainable water management.
· About 80 trees of 22 different species, contributing to higher oxygen generation and dust particle absorption.
· Over 33,000 shrubs, bamboo, and grasses from 73 species, helping regulate surface temperature and create a cooling microclimate.
· A portion of the garden has been developed using the Miyawaki plantation.
Under its PRATITI initiative, UNM Foundation has revamped/developed and currently maintains ten public parks across the city of Ahmedabad covering an area of 1,05,630 square meters. Additionally, two gardens are currently under development in Ahmedabad with a combined area of 80,000 sq meters.
The UNM Foundation lays special thrust on conserving and maintaining green cover in urban spaces. Through the PRATITI initiative, it maintains about 3.47 lakh sq meters of green spaces in 13 gardens located across cities of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat and Daman. Currently, 4 gardens in Ahmedabad and Surat are being developed with a combined area of 1.15 lakh sq meters
