Waterlogging and inadequate sanitation have led to a spike in vector-borne diseases at Civil Hospital in Asarwa, with around 35 people, including doctors, contracting dengue on the hospital campus.
Reports indicate that seven to eight doctors and around 25 to 30 Class-3 and Class-4 employees have contracted dengue, with most receiving treatment within the Civil Hospital itself. Meanwhile, the hospital administration has downplayed the issue, stating that only a few cases have been reported.
On the other hand, the Malaria Department has recently issued a notice to the Civil Hospital, urging immediate action to address the sanitation issues. The areas around the OPD department, trauma center, and other parts of the campus are particularly affected, with stagnant water worsening the mosquito problem. Compared to last month, there has been a rise in cases related to vector-borne diseases, and there is growing concern that without prompt intervention, the number of dengue, malaria, chikungunya, and typhoid cases may continue to rise in the coming days.
