Passengers traveling on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Double Decker train were thrown into a frenzy this morning when two coaches of the train detached near Surat.
The incident occurred around 9 am, when two coaches of Train No. 12932, the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Double Decker Express, suddenly separated near Gothan Railway Station in Surat’s Sayan area. However, there were no reports of casualties, and the train remained on the tracks. Passengers disembarked as the train came to a halt, and the railway’s technical team arrived to investigate the cause of the detachment. It is learnt that the coaches separated due to a broken coupler.
Western Railway addressed the situation on social media platform X, stating, “Two coaches of train number 12932 Ahmedabad – Mumbai Double Decker Exp parted near Gothangam Yard of Vadodara Divison at 8:50 hrs. Restoration work is in progress; the rear and front portions have been brought to the platform. Up trains are operating through the loop line.”
Rail traffic is currently affected due to the detachment, causing delays for trains traveling between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The railway department has assured that the coaches will be reconnected and the train will resume its journey. However, this disruption has resulted in delays, with passengers expected to reach their destinations later than scheduled.
