Gold worth Rs 1 lakh was stolen from a house in Ambawadi area of the city late on Friday night while the family was asleep.
Atit Shah, a 51-year-old resident of Rohini Residential Society near Manekbaug Hall on Saturday filed a complaint with Ellisbridge police saying all members of the family were sleeping in the drawing room when the burglary took place.
When his wife woke up late Friday night, she found that the door of their bedroom was locked from inside. She alerted other family members who first tried to open the door and later went around the house to the bedroom window. Burglars had broken the bedroom window grill to sneak into the house.
Shah stated in the FIR that the burglars decamped with a gold bar worth Rs 60,000 and a gold chain worth Rs 37,000 from a cupboard in his bedroom. Ellisbridge police registered a complaint of burglary and are investigating the case.
