Gujarat reported three more deaths of children due to acute viral encephalitis syndrome, bringing the total of patients deceased and discharged after treatment, to 74 till date.
With two more cases reported on August 6, the total caseload touched 170 pediatric patients on Day-40 of the outbreak.
The death toll reached 74 children on Tuesday. Of these, while 71 children are from Gujarat, 2 deceased are from Rajasthan and 1 is from MP.
Panchmahals has recorded the highest number of deaths of children, seven, followed by six in Ahmedabad city, five deaths each in Sabarkantha and Mehsana, four each from Rajkot, Morbi, Vadodara, Banaskantha and Kutch. There were three deceased each in Aravalli, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar and Dahod.
A total of 21 patients remain under medical treatment and 74 children have been discharged from hospitals. Of the 59 confirmed cases, 58 had CHPV, 1 was positive for Enterovirus and 1 child had suffered from infection by both pathogens.
