Motera to Mahatma Mandir Metro corridor to start by August-end

The second phase of the Metro rail connecting Motera to Mahatma Mandir is expected to be operational by the end of this month. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) has completed the inspection of the partial route. However, the work on the Mahatma Mandir to GIFT City route is in progress and it will be operational not before the year end as work on two stations along the route is incomplete.

The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation has complied with the observations made by the CMRS and taken up the necessary work. The compliance report will be submitted soon and after final approval from the CMRS, the route will be operational, a senior official of Metro said.

The trial runs for Phase II, connecting Motera to Gandhinagar Sector I (Indroda Circle) were completed in February. A 300-meter long cable bridge over the Narmada Canal has also been laid.

The total length of the Phase II corridor is 28.26 kilometers, which includes 22.84 kilometers of the Motera to Mahatma Mandir corridor and 5.42 kilometers of the Mahatma Mandir-GNLU- GIFT City corridor. There are 20 stations from Motera to Mahatma Mandir and 2 in GNLU-GIFT City.

The 22 stations of Phase II include Koteshwar Road, Vishwakarma College, Tapovan Circle, Narmada Canal, Koba Circle, Old Koba, Koba Village, GNLU, PDPU, GIFT City, Raysan, Randesan, Dhola Kuva Circle, Infocity, Sector 1, Sector 10A, Sachivalaya, Akshardham, Old Sachivalaya, Sector 16, Sector 24, and Mahatma Mandir.
