Ahmedabad’s St Xavier’s College decide to recycle nearly 200 kg of waste generated from such bottles on the campus. The bottles were used to make furniture for an eco-garden next to the college canteen.
The garden, inaugurated in association with packaged water company Bisleri, has as many as 32 garden chairs and two long benches made of waste plastic bottles collected from the campus.
“Bisleri has a campaign called –Bottle for Change. Under this, the waste plastic from institutions is collected and converted into usable furniture. The Bisleri Eco-park at the college will now not only be a place to chill out for students but also for educational activities.
The college has placed a huge metal cage in which students and teachers at the college are expected to throw plastic water bottles for the college to contribute to plastic waste collection from the campus in coming days.
