The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is introducing a unique initiative of ‘Memorial Parks’ in the city’s Nikol and Chandkheda. These parks will give citizens the opportunity to plant a tree of their choice, in honour of their loved ones.
This programme aims to personalise the city’s green spaces, allowing residents to commemorate special individuals or occasions in a meaningful way while contributing to the urban greenery.
Chandkheda’s memorial park will be developed near Gayatri Circle, covering an area of 8,481 square meters. Meanwhile, Nikol’s park will be established close to Mewad Party Plot, over a 3,253 square meter area.
To participate in this initiative, citizens are required to make a deposit of ₹3,100 for each tree and plaque. Participants will be responsible for maintaining their dedicated space for one year. This fee not only covers the initial planting but also ensures the upkeep of the tree during the first year.
AMC would take over the long-term maintenance of the trees. In case a tree dies naturally or due to unforeseen circumstances, AMC will replace it with the same species and, if possible, of similar height. This commitment ensures that the parks remain lush and vibrant.
