The Chandipura virus outbreak in Gujarat continues to escalate, with 28 suspected cases reported on July 19, bringing the total number of cases to 58. Tragically, five children have also succumbed to the virus, raising the official death toll to 20.
From 26 cases on July 17, the cases have more than doubled, and the death toll has catapulted by 40%, all just within two days.
Health officials from district and cooperative medical colleges, district hospitals, and other healthcare institutions are constantly monitoring the situation across the state.
The most, eight cases, were reported from Sabarkantha, followed by Aravalli with four, Mahisagar with two, Kheda with two, Mehsana with three, Rajkot with two, Surendranagar with two, Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) region with four, Gandhinagar with four, Panchmahal with seven, Jamnagar with five, Morbi with four, Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) region with one, Chhotaudepur with two, Dahod with two, and one case each in Vadodara, Narmada, Banaskantha, Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) region, Bhavnagar, and Devbhumi Dwarka.
