In the wake of the ongoing controversy surrounding Maharashtra IAS-PO (Indian Administrative Service-Probationary Officer) Puja Khedkar, who is accused of allegedly forging documents to gain entry into the civil services, the Gujarat government has also initiated an investigation into the legitimacy of four of its own IAS officers.
The government is verifying the authenticity of the disability certificates submitted by these officers. Following a probe, the state government will send its report to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The General Administration Department (GAD) has initiated an inquiry against the four officers, which include three junior and one senior level officer.
According to a report, the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has also directed that the investigation initiated by the GAD be conducted without any reluctance.
Sources claim that the four officers were shortlisted after a preliminary-level investigation.
Sources further alleged that a senior IAS officer had submitted a disability certificate. However, the probe revealed that the officer currently has no disability.
A senior official suggested a possibility of the concerned officer suffering from a disability at the time of joining the service which could have been cured over time.
