Applicants visiting the RTO offices in Ahmedabad for any vehicle-related work are facing delays due to e-memos often being shown as pending on the RTO portal. This issue affects the completion of vehicle-related services at the RTO, even after payments are made.
When an e-challan is issued, it is shown against the vehicle on the RTO portal so that online payment can be made to settle the fine. Around 70% of vehicle owners are experiencing trouble as their e-memo is listed as pending on the RTO portal despite payment in the virtual court. This discrepancy causes frustration and delays, preventing their work from proceeding.
There is no directive from the Transport Commissioner’s office to halt services for those with e-memos. However, RTOs continue to refuse service during the verification stage until the e-memo status is updated. The Commissioner’s office is notified of such cases, but many applicants remain stuck in this process.
A former official noted that information about the e-memo is sent to the vehicle owner’s mobile phone number. Otherwise, they find out about the e-memo when they visit the RTO office for vehicle-related work. E-memos are only visible on the website for 90 days; after that, they are sent to the virtual court set up in the Ghee Kanta area. When the fine is paid in the virtual court and the system is not updated, it causes further delays in processing work.
