A Student student of Indian origin lost his life in Canada. Yuren Kamlesh Patel (24) drowned in Waskesiu lake in Prince Albert on July 14. Yuren, a resident of Saskatoon in Canada, hails from Surat.
His family has expressed a desire to carry out the final rites in Surat and have sought guidance on social media for related procedures.
Mehul Patel, who is based in Canada, suggested that they could create a page on GoFundMe to raise some money and reach out to the Indo-Canadian community or association for help. Earlier, 20-year-old Meet Patel died in a road accident in Brampton in April. On July 1, 23-year-old Jash Patel, a native of Makna village near Kamrej in Surat, drowned in Otonabee River while celebrating Canada Day with his friend.
In both instances, the Gujarati community in Canada had pooled money through crowdfunding to send the bodies back to India. Jash’s body was brought to India and cremated on July 14.
