The Ahmedabad police, in a major catch, detained Parth Kamlesh Doshi, an international bookie and key accused in the Rs2300 crore cricket betting scam. Doshi was detained from Amritsar Airport based on a Look-Out Circular (LOC) issued by the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) of Gujarat on Thursday night. He was on his way from Dubai where he used to handle the betting racket.
Gujarat police were informed about his detention on Friday, following which a team of SMC officials rushed to Amritsar and brought him to Ahmedabad. A court later sent him to police custody for four days.
SMC officials told Mirror they have arrested 35 accused in the multi-crore betting racket scam including Doshi so far. SMC sources said during the investigation it emerged that Doshi had given the master ID of the betting application to another arrested accused Dhaval Patel for a 15% commission. They said Doshi had gone to Dubai in 2018 and had visited India once in 2023 since then.After that, he remained absconding.
