The Gujarat government will issue a new circular to announce revised MBBS fees for 13 medical colleges run by the Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS). The state government Spokesperson Rushikesh Patel made this announcement today following statewide protests against the recent fee hike.
Patel assured that the government will make decisions in the students’ best interests. The revised fees will consider feedback from students, parents’ associations, IMA, and NMO. The state government urges students and families to remain stress-free as they work on providing fee benefits through several schemes.
On June 28, the government increased the annual fee for GMERS medical colleges. The fee for the government quota rose from 3.30 lakh to 5.50 lakh. The management quota fee increased from 9.75 lakh to 17 lakh. The NRI quota fee went from 22,000 USD to 25,000 USD. The new circular will explain the reasons behind this increase and propose new fees after consultations with stakeholders.
