After a week-long lull in monsoon showers, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts heavy rains in Gujarat’s Valsad, Navsari, and Surat districts in the next three days. However, the rest of the state is expected to receive negligible rainfall.
The weather department recorded rains in 47 talukas of the state.
Dasada in Surendranagar received 1.75 inches, Botad received 2 inches, Tankara in Morbi received 1.25 inches, Hatiya in Maliya, Bodeli in Chhotaudepur, Liliya, Patan, Veraval, Kunkavav, Khambha, and Bhanvad received 0.5 inches of rain.
The state recorded 25.46% of its seasonal rainfall so far. Of this, Saurashtra has received the highest rainfall of 35.44%, followed by 34.87% in Kutch, 27.25% in South Gujarat, 17.78% in North Gujarat, and 16.39% in Central Gujarat.
Weather experts suggest that the state will likely experience a dry spell from today till July 15 due to weak winds from the Arabian Sea. However, there will be scattered showers, and coastal areas will experience a rainy atmosphere.
The monsoon is expected to become active again in the state after July 16, with heavy rains predicted from July 17 to 24.
