Bullet Train Project: Gujarat govt to acquire additional land in 3 districts

The Government of Gujarat has this week announced a requirement for additional land for the construction for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project. The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) had in October 2023 declared that 100% land acquisition in Gujarat for the project was complete. However this week, the State government has initiated the process for further land acquision.

The lands identified for acquisition are located in various villages across Navsari, Kheda, and Bharuch districts. The acquisition is required to build infrastructure for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project, leading to the displacement of affected persons.

The land acquisition will proceed under the Land Acquisition Act, 2013. The government directive instructs all concerned parties not to obstruct survey activities on the identified lands. The government has also designated Competent Authority and Special Land Acquisition Officer of Kheda, Special Land Acquisition Officer of Bharuch, and Prant Officer of Navsari to act as a collector and oversee these acquisitions.
