Several parts of Ahmedabad city reported waterlogging and cave-ins, including one in Khokhra near Anupam Cinema. Due to high velocity winds, and felling of trees in Makarba, Andhjan Mandal, Ramdevnagar, and Shyamal crossroads led to traffic snarls on Tuesday.
International flyers had a harrowing time as they faced trouble in reaching the Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport in Ahmedabad.
Ahmedabad city recorded an average of 30 mm rainfall. North zone received the highest of 65 mm rainfall, including Memko and Naroda with 87.5 mm each. Usmanpura in the west zone received 56 mm, Viratnagar in the east zone got 65 mm, Odhav 57 mm and Chakudiya 55 mm rainfall.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy for Banaskantha while heavy rains are predicted in Sabarkantha, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Dang, Tapi, Valsad and in Saurashtra namely Junagadh, Amreli and Gir Somnath on Tuesday. Other areas are to witness light to moderate rainfall.
