The decision of Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) to construct a sewage treatment plant (STP) on plot number 56 of Survey Number 228/3 in Sola has raised concerns among residents of nearby societies like Swara Platinum, Ugati Platinum, and Abhilasha Bungalows due to potential adverse effects.
Residents have appealed to authorities of New West Zone for the relocation of the proposed STP. They may seek legal recourse if AMC fails to address their concerns.
Residents are demanding an inquiry into how AMC selected this plot for the STP, which is surrounded by a population of approximately 5,000 people. They are also questioning how a previously privately owned plot came under government possession.
In their complaint to the deputy municipal commissioner of NWZ, Ahmedabad mayor, and Gandhinagar MP Amit Shah, residents highlighted that the proposed site is adjacent to a primary school and an old lake.
