The delay in the arrival of the southwest monsoon has left Ahmedabad and much of the state sweltering. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the monsoon’s northernmost limit remains near Navsari as of Tuesday morning, having shown no further progress for about a week.
This has resulted in temperatures staying higher than usual, with the city recording a maximum of 40.6°C, which is 2.4°C above normal, and a minimum of 30.7°C, which is 3.3°C above normal.
