A day after the Gujarat High Court put a stay on the release of Junaid Khan-starrer Maharaja, Netflix India and Yashraj Films rushed to the court to get the stay lifted.
The producers submitted to the HC said that they would have to face huge losses due to the stay order, arguing that other HCs had not granted any stay.
The movie is based on a book which was launched in 2013 and no untoward incident has happened since then, they further argued while seeking the permission to be allowed to release the movie. Senior counsel Mukul Rohatgi appeared on behalf of Netflix India.
However, Justice Justice Sangita Vishen of HC reiterated that the short date was given and the parties could make submissions on June 18, the next date of hearing.
