The India Meteorological Department (IMD) revised its prediction for Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and surrounding areas, with its bulletin stating that instead of Sunday, these areas will see their first showers of the season by Monday (June 10). Further, rainfall is expected to envelop the entire state by June 12.
On Thursday itself, rainfall occurred at isolated places over South Gujarat. Notably, the southwest monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea; most parts of Karnataka; some more parts of Maharashtra, Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. Morning’s cyclonic circulation over south Gujarat and neighbourhood at 3.1 km above mean sea level persisted.
For Friday and Saturday, the IMD predicted light rain/thundershowers in Dahod, Chhota Udepur, the Dangs, Tapi, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra & Nagar Haveli.
Rainfall is also expected on Sunday in southern Saurashtra, including the districts of Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir-Somnath and the UT of Diu.
On Monday, light to moderate rain/thundershowers are very likely to reach Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod and Mahisagar and the rest of South Gujarat.
The situation is also expected to be the same in Saurashtra districts of Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Gir-Somnath and in Diu. On Tuesday, rainfall will encompass upper Saurashtra as well and then on Wednesday, encompass the upper reaches of Kutch to envelop the entire state.
The minimum temperature in Ahmedabad was 28.7°Celsius, which was 0.6°C above normal. For Friday, the maximum temperature is predicted to remain at 42°Celsius with clear skies.
