Food & Drugs Control Administration (FDCA) of Gujarat government today based on a tip off raided Payal Traders in Sector 26 in GIDC Gandhinagar and seized 15 kg duplicate Amul brand ghee and 500 ML pouch suspected stock along with Amul lables.
The department also took four samples of 500 ml pouches and Makhan Misri brand cow ghee. 207 kg stock worth Rs. 70,000 was seized. Samples are sent to laboratory. It was revealed during questioning that 15 kg stock was packed within this facility. 50 ML pouches however were purchased from unidentified persons without bill.
Police have meanwhile arrested Kapil Vikram Maheshwari (32, resident of Shyam Residency , Randheja), the son of Vikram Maheshwari who owns Payal Traders. The license of the firm has been suspended for 60 days period. The company had license of making veg fat. However duplicate ghee was manufactured here in the name of pure ghee.
