The massive fire at the game zone of an amusement park in Gujarat’s Rajkot last week, which claimed 27 lives, seems to have been started by sparks from a welding machine that landed on “piles” of inflammable material stored at the facility. A CCTV footage of the incident has emerged which shows that the fire started while welding work was underway on the gaming zone’s premises.
The video, which could not be independently verified by News18, is reported from the first floor of the facility where some construction work was underway. It shows that during the welding process, some sparks landed on a pile of plastic lying nearby, which caught fire.
Panic-stricken workers soon came into action and tried to douse the blaze but to no avail. Within no time, the fire spread to other inflammable material stored there, leading to one of the biggest man-made tragedies in recent times.
