With only four days to go for the last day of registration, the Gujarat Common Admission Service (GCAS) portal has seen registration for only 25% of the total seats for Gujarat University. Out of over 55,000 seats, 14,000 students have put Gujarat University as their first choice.
With such numbers, many believe that 40% of seats will stay vacant this year for the university. The principals and heads of departments were called for a meeting over the issue, likely to be held today at the Senate hall.

Admission process on GCAS
This year, out of 15 universities in the state, students are allowed to pick as many universities as they choose. They will get admission based on merit.
If a student is eligible for admission to multiple universities, they can choose the university/college they have preferred.
The provisional admissions will be declared on June 7. If there are any grievances or objections from students, they will be addressed by June 10. By June 12, final admissions will be updated on the GCAS.
The students will have to confirm the admission and report in person by June 21.
