A total of 34,827 students, including 26,828 who failed to clear their Class 12 Science Exams or were absent, will appear for the supplementary exams for Class 12 Science on June 24. Interestingly, 7,999 students, who cleared their exams but wish to improve their scores, will also appear for the supplementary exams.
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board released Class 12 Science Board exam results on May 9. This year, the board has discontinued its previous practice and instead decided to allow any Class 12 Science student who wishes to appear for the supplementary exams to do so. This includes students who cleared their board exam, failed to clear it or were absent.
Earlier, only students who could not clear three or less than three subjects in the Class 12 Science Board exams were allowed to appear for supplementary examinations. The new rule allows even students who wish to improve their scores to appear for the exams.
Such students are also not required to surrender their original mark sheets. They can take the supplementary exam, and the higher score among the two exams (the one held in March and the supplementary exam in June) will be considered.
Of the 91,625 regular students who passed the Class 12 Science examination, 8.73% have opted to retake the exam to improve their scores. This reflects a significant number of students taking advantage of the new rules.
