The Gujarat University will go ahead with its centralised online system for admission to its various courses. It held its first meeting about the same with admission coordinators of various colleges under GU as well as GIPL, the agency which will conduct the online and centralised admission for the varsity.
This development comes after the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) rolled out its choice-filling option to seamlessly conduct an online registration system.
The coordinators were told that the admission process will be conducted after the GCAS assigns the students who opt for courses in GU-affiliated colleges.
Earlier, we were told that students who get admission will have to produce Class 12 marksheets issued by the Gujarat Board or any other Board. However, since many board students are yet to be issued the marksheet, the education department has asked the varsities to accept and consider marksheets downloaded from the authentic websites of various boards.
GU officials have now informed the coordinator about the rule change (about the marksheets).
Another change in the rule is about the submission of a school leaving certificate. Now, students can submit a school leaving certificate at the college after they confirm the admission,” said another official. Of the 15 varsities under GCAS, only a couple of them including GU have opted for a centralised admission.
