The Ahmedabad police nabbed a gang of three thieves, including a woman, for committing jewellery theft worth Rs 1,47,150 from a jewellery store in Vadaj. Police scanned about 40 CCTV footage to identify the thieves.
Three persons including a woman had reached Abhushan Jewellers as customers on April 30. As the ornaments were shown to them, one of the three persons siphoned off the jewellery and escaped the store.
In the evening, when the owner counted his stock, he found some jewellery to be missing. A complaint was lodged at Vadaj police station in the matter.
Based on the CCTV footage, we have identified the thieves and arrested them. On primary interrogation, they confessed that all three of them had reached the store in an auto on the pretext of buying jewellery and had stolen the gold ornaments.
Among the arrested are Praveen Dantani, Karan Dantani and Bharti Dantani. Accused Praveen, has also been booked in a similar theft incident in Kadi earlier.
