The 11-month contract tenure for Gyan Sahayak teachers in granted schools has been extended to May 8 in response to their already assigned election duties. Their term was initially slated to conclude on May 4.
The Gyan Sahayak Scheme, implemented by the state’s Education Department, aims to address the shortfall of permanent teachers by appointing 11-month contractual teachers in state-run schools where teaching posts remain to be filled.
Gyan Sahayak Scheme was introduced from 2023-24 academic year and their term was supposed to end on May 4 this year.
However, recent changes in academic calendar have led to an adjustment in summer vacation dates for teachers. With summer vacation now scheduled from May 9 to June 12 the tenure of Gyan Sahayak has been extended by 4 days.
