The Ahmedabad police will not tow vehicles from near polling booths on May 7 as an incentive to vote. The decision was taken after inputs that some citizens are reluctant to go out to vote due to parking hassles.
On the polling day when all 26 Lok Sabha constituencies of the state are going to polls, for Ahmedabad city police will not tow vehicles parked wrongly near the polling booths. The traffic police employees will be deployed near the polling buildings to help voters park their vehicles in a way that does not hamper the moving traffic in congested areas.
It is worth mentioning that there are a total of 1,168 polling buildings and about 4,132 polling booths with 37,65,149 voters in Ahmedabad. Different areas of Ahmedabad fall under the Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad West and Ahmedabad East Lok Sabha constituencies.
