The Cyber Crime Branch of Ahmedabad Police has detained two individuals for posting a doctored video clip of Home Minister Amit Shah on the social media platform Facebook.
Cyber Crime DCP Dr. Lavina Sinha, while providing details of the case, stated that two people have been detained for posting a doctored video of HM Shah on the social media platform Facebook. The arrested individuals are Satish Vansola from Palanpur and Rahul Bhai Bariya from Limakheda, Dahod. Both of them are affiliated with political parties. They had posted the video without verifying its authenticity. The Delhi Police has also filed cases related to the same video, as the BJP had posted the original video on social media to refute the edited version. The phones of these two individuals have been confiscated and are being sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for investigation to determine the origin of the video.
It is noteworthy that Rahul Bariya is an Aam Aadmi Party worker, while Satish Vansola is the Personal Assistant of Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani. Mevani has previously referred to Satish as his brother who has been with Mevani for 6 years.
