Security measures have been intensified at 24 airports in India following an alarming email from a group called ‘Terrorizers 111’ to blow up four airports. The emails were received on Monday.
Although nothing suspicious was found at the airports the security forces have been alerted and anti-sabotage screening and reinforcement intensified. The Central Industrial Security Forces have also been deployed at several locations.
The email coming from 666darktriad666@gmail.com was not only directed to the airport authorities but also to the General Manager of East-Central Railways.
The Cyber Security and IT agencies have initiated efforts to trace the origin of the Gmail account.
Nagpur’s Commissioner of Police Ravindra Singhal with his team arrived at the airport upon receiving information from the airport director. The special bomb detection and disposal squads were deployed.
Besides prominent airports, the emails were also sent to other organisations including CISF, a bank, a business group, an Andaman-based holiday group etc. According to a senior officer, the email appeared more like a prank. Security, however, has been intensified.
