Plans for the renovation of the historic Ellis Bridge have been set in motion by the municipality. Despite a sanctioned tender of Rs. 27 crore, work on the project has yet to commence. Initially, in 2012, the municipality had considered demolishing the bridge, but public resistance led to a change in plans.
Now, after 12 years, the renovation of this heritage bridge is poised to commence within the next 15 days, with an estimated cost of Rs. 27 crores.
