The Gujarat Anti-Terorrism Squad (ATS) nabbed Mohammed Saqlain Umar Dawood, a resident of Jamnagar’s Bedi village, on Apr 28 in an espionage game linked to Pakistan’s spy agency, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).
Earlier, ATS busted a network of espionage involving Pakistani Hindu Kishore Ramvani and Labhshankar Maheshwari, a resident of Anand’s Tarapur.
Maheshwari activated the Indian SIM card and sent it to Pakistan through his sister, Sushila. The SIM was used by the Pakistani spy agency to send a malware virus through WhatsApp with the help of a link on the WhatsApp number of Santoshkumar Bhatia, who was serving as a soldier in the Kargil Jammu and Kashmir Air Force of India.
The hacked phone was used to gather sensitive and confidential information about the Indian Air Force.
In the investigation of this case, the ATS deputy superintendent of police (DySP) arrested Mohammed Saqlain, who purchased the SIM card and activated it on the mobile phone of a person named Asgar Modi.
Further investigation has been initiated by ATS in this regard.
