In a significant milestone for the advancement of education, research, and community development, the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) has witnessed a remarkable 161% increase in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support during FY 2023-24, as compared to FY 2022-23.

This substantial surge in CSR funding reflects a growing recognition of IITGN’s commitment to excellence in education, research, and societal impact. With the generous contributions from corporate donors, IITGN continues to expand its reach and enhance its programmes aimed at fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and social responsibility.

Expressing his gratitude to the Institute’s industry partners, Prof Rajat Moona, Director, IITGN, said, “We are immensely grateful for the overwhelming support from our corporate partners. Their commitment to investing in education and community development is instrumental in advancing our mission of excellence.”

The increased CSR support has enabled IITGN to strengthen its scholarship programmes for students, expand its community outreach programmes, and launch research initiatives in areas such as smart agriculture, fire safety, and geosynthetics, among others. By collaborating with industry leaders, IITGN aims to leverage its expertise and resources to address pressing societal challenges and contribute to the nation’s development goals.

In the past, the Institute has explored various research domains through Industry CSR projects, encompassing a diverse array of topics. These projects have involved tasks such as synthesising photosensitizers molecules for retinal cancer treatment, identifying sources of corrosion in carbon steel pipes, and proposing effective mitigation strategies. Additionally, researchers have investigated advancements in fire alarm and detection systems, along with related codes and standards. Through these CSR initiatives, IITGN researchers have developed innovative solutions to address societal challenges, contributing significantly to advancements in fields such as healthcare, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and social welfare. Furthermore, CSR support has enabled IITGN to implement educational assistance and other welfare measures for its workers, as well as to introduce interventions related to health and hygiene in neighbouring villages.

“We believe that CSR support is a powerful catalyst for social change, and we are proud to work with a variety of corporate partners in their efforts to empower future generations and drive positive transformation in society through their CSR support,” said Prof Pratik Mutha, Dean Institutional Advancement at IITGN.

The surge in CSR funding underscores the growing synergy between academia, industry, and the community in driving sustainable development and inclusive growth. Through strategic partnerships and collaborative initiatives, IITGN is poised to make a lasting impact on society and create a brighter future for generations to come.
