After a day-long extensive search in the surroundings of Surat’s Tapi river, a team of the Mumbai crime branch landed upon the pistol used for firing at Salman Khan’s residence, along with three magazines and 13 cartridges.
As per the crime branch’s claim, these were the same weapons used for firing outside the actor’s residence in Bandra, Galaxy Apartments, on Apr 14.
Mumbai cops search Tapi river
The accused, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal had admitted to using this pistol to fire at Salman’s residence.
During their interrogation, Vicky and Sagar revealed that after firing at Salman’s residence, they reached Surat, where they boarded a train for Bhuj. During this train journey, they chucked the pistol out while it was crossing the Tapi river.
Inspector Daya Nayak of the Mumbai crime branch, with the help of the Surat crime branch and Varachha police, conducted a thorough search operation on the Tapi river bridge and the areas surrounding it, accompanied by one of the two accused.
The crime branch team also sought help from divers to search the river.
Salman Khan house shooting case
Based on technical surveillance, Vicky and Sagar were apprehended from Bhuj on Apr 16 by joint teams of Mumbai and Kutch police and were later handed over to the Mumbai police.
The Mumbai police have declared gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is lodged in jail in connection with the incident, and his younger brother Anmol Bishnoi as wanted accused.
The Mumbai police have revealed that Gupta and Pal allegedly received instructions from both Bishnoi brothers.
Notably, Lawrence Bishnoi currently serves jail time in Gujarat’s Sabarmati jail, while his brother is believed to be in Canada or the US.
