Numerous pre-schools across the state are facing the prospect of closure due to the lack of a registered rental agreement. The Education Board had made it mandatory for pre-schools to register themselves for which a registered rental agreement is to be submitted.
It should be noted that a lot of pre-schools operate out of rented premises including shops and other premises. It is the norm to have a rental agreement for 11 months for which registration is not mandatory. Most of the rental agreements are for 11 months and hence pre-schools are finding it difficult to show a registered rental agreement.
Process began in Feb
The process to register the pre-schools in the state began in February but many such schools cannot register themselves because of a lack of a registered rental agreement. The requirement of a registered rental agreement has resulted in fewer applications from pre-schools to get themselves registered.
The state had decided to register pre-schools to regulate them.
School register protest
Furthermore, the recent decision to raise the age limit for admission to Class 1 in state schools has encouraged the establishment of kindergartens for children over five years.
Some school governing bodies had objected to the requirement of a registered rental agreement before the commencement of the registration process.
The Directorate of Primary Education has meanwhile emphasised the importance of adherence to the registration requirements, including the submission of a registered rental agreement, to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
