The Mumbai Crime Branch team is currently in the city, conducting an investigation into the firing incident at Hindi film actor Salman Khan’s residence in Galaxy Apartments, Mumbai. The team is engaged in search operations in the Tapi river to locate the revolver used in the crime. Accompanying the Mumbai Police team is encounter specialist Daya Nayak.
On April 14th, two accused, namely Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, opened fire at Salman’s apartment and fled the scene. Subsequently, the duo was arrested from Gujarat’s Kutch. During interrogation, it was revealed that en route to Kutch, the accused duo had come to Surat and disposed of the revolver into the Tapi River. The Mumbai Crime Branch team has arrived in Surat to conduct further investigations, and multiple teams are conducting searches in the Tapi river.
Gupta and Pal, riding on a motorcycle after firing at Salman Khan’s residence on April 14, fled the scene and later abandoned their motorcycle near the nearby Mount Mary Church. They then took a rickshaw to Bandra railway station and boarded a local train to Borivali. However, they alighted at the nearby Santacruz station. Subsequently, they walked to Vakola and took a rickshaw to Borivali. From Borivali, they hired a taxi for Surat. However, the taxi driver dropped them off at Charoti before the Gujarat border as he did not have an interstate permit. From there, Gupta and Pal traveled to Surat in a truck. Upon reaching Surat station, they boarded a train for Bhuj in Kutch. On board the train, the revolver was disposed of into the river from the moving train as it passed over the railway bridge near Ashwinikumar Shamshan Gruh in Surat.
On April 15, both suspects arrived in Bhuj. From there, they proceeded to Mata no Madh and rested on the premises like ordinary pilgrims. It was during this time that the West Kutch LCB apprehended them and handed them over to the Mumbai Police.
