Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday released the BJP’s manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Titled ‘Modi’s Guarantee 2024’, the manifesto – also known as ‘Sankalp Patra’ – focusses on women empowerment, upliftment of youth and the poor.
The manifesto targets GYAN – which are schemes for the ‘Gareeb’ (poor), ‘Yuva’ (youth), ‘Annadaata’ (farmers), and ‘Nari’ (women). It also focusses on making India prosperous, strengthening its international relations, and fostering the development of the country’s heritage, among others.
Speaking after the unveiling of the manifesto, PM Modi said that the BJP’s ‘Sankalp Patra’ empowers “all the four strong pillars of developed India – youth, women, poor and farmers”.
HERE ARE KEY PROMISES IN BJP POLL MANIFESTO:
- Elder citizens (aged above 70) and the transgender community will be brought under the ambit of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. PM Modi said that senior citizens will get Rs 5 lakh free treatment.
- The free ration scheme will be continued for the next five years, and cheap medicines will remain available for purchase under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
- The BJP manifesto also pledges to build 3 crore houses, work towards cheap pipeline gas availability for all households, and cut down electricity bills to zero.
- The ‘Sankalp Patra’ promises to enforce the Uniform Civil Code and One Nation One Election.
- The ‘Modi ki Guarantee’ manifesto also promises to make 3 crore women Lakhpati Didis, up from the nearly 1 crore women who have achieved the feat.
- Specially abled people will now be given priority in the PM Housing Scheme, and special efforts will be made to ensure they get housing as per their special needs.
