A youth in Ahmedabad had his car stolen when a person, impersonating as a valet parking personnel, took his car keys but never returned with the vehicle on Apr 5.
As per the report, Jay Patel, a student from the nearby Rancharda village, had gone out to a cafe located on city’s Sindhu Bhavan Road with his brother and two friends in a sports utility vehicle (SUV), costing around ₹20 lakh.
After reaching the location, Patel stationed his car outside the cafe and handed over the keys to a person purportedly posing as a valet parking personnel.
Placing his trust in the personnel, Patel went inside the cafe.
Upon exiting the cafe, he looked around to find the valet. However, much to their surprise, they were nowhere to be spotted in the area.
Adding to their plight, upon inquiring at the cafe’s reception desk, the officials denied having any such facility available at their place.
Patel learned that the valet personnel had set off with his car, following which he reportedly called up his father to the spot.
A complaint was filed regarding this theft incident at Sarkhej police station on Apr 8.
