The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has introduced an Advance Tax Rebate Scheme for taxpayers in the Financial Year 2025.
The scheme, effective from April 9, offers tax rebates ranging from 12 to 15 per cent to advance taxpayers. According to AMC’s Tax Department, taxpayers paying advance property tax with general tax, water tax and conservancy tax will get a 12 per cent rebate. Moreover, those choosing to pay the tax through the online mode are eligible for an additional 1 per cent rebate which makes a total rebate of 13 per cent. On the other hand, those who have paid advance tax for three consecutive years will get an extra 2 percent discount, taking the total rebate amount to 15 per cent.
keeping in mind the model code of conduct for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the authorities had already got the proposal approved from the standing committee in March so that there is no hindrance to the implementation of the Advance Tax Rebate Scheme from April.
Last year, AMC had collected Rs 596.08 crore revenue through the Advance Tax Rebate scheme. A total of 4,98,940 taxpayers benefited from the scheme and Rs 67.55 crore compensation was awarded to them. Last year, the scheme had an advance tax rebate of 10 per cent.
AMC has also announced an interest waiver scheme for citizens who have unpaid taxes dues for years now. In this, the AMC will engage with large corporations, institutions and significant taxpayers across all seven zones to maximize tax revenue.
