One of seven Congress candidates declared in Gujarat for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections has withdrawn his name as a candidate. Congress party’s national spokesperson Rohan Gupta, son of former senior Congress leader Rajkumar Gupta today tweeted that he was withdrawing his candidature for the Ahmedabad East parliament seat as Congress candidate.
Rohan Gupta in a tweet stated – ‘Due to serious medical condition, my father is admitted to hospital and I am withdrawing my candidature for Ahmedabad east parliament seat as Congress Candidate. I will extend complete support to the new candidate nominated by the party.’
Rohan has also attached a letter addressing the State Congress president about the same. Rohan’s father is admitted to privately-run Zydus hospital in Ahmedabad.
In another development Rohan Gupta’s father Rajkumar Gupta, a veteran Congress leader has resigned from the party.
It’s worth noting that earlier the city Congress chief Himmat Singh had refused to contest the Ahmedabad East seat. Various Congress leaders including Jagdish Thakor, Shailesh Parmar, Bharatsinh Solanki have refused to contest Lok Sabha election.
