The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) has started the evaluation process for Classes 10 and 12 board exams today. The evaluation work will initially start with fewer centres, which will be shifted to a full-fledged scale on Mar 23, after the board exams.
With the target of declaring the results early this year, the board will complete the evaluation work by Apr 5.
Special centres have been set up by the board since Mar 12 with the commencement of the exams, where the answer sheets are kept and further sent to the central evaluation centres for the checking process.
The number of central evaluation centres has increased this year. There are a total of 204 central evaluation centres for Class 10 across the state, compared to 162 last year.
There are a total of 184 central evaluation centres for the Class 12 general stream and 65 for Class 12 science this year.
The number of answer-checking teachers has also increased. While there were around 60,000 teachers last year, 67,115 teachers have been appointed on duty this year.
The answer sheet evaluation work will start in most of the centres across the state on Mar 23. However, since it is likely to coincide with the Lok Sabha elections, the teachers will also be appointed for election duty and training.
This may cause some delay in the mark evaluation and declaring the results as per the target.
