Gujarat chief electoral officer P Bharathi held a press conference today following Election Commission of India’s announcement of General Election and by elections in India and by elections for particular seats in various states.
P Bharathi addressed the media that voting for 26 seats and 5 legislative assemblies of Gujarat will be held on May 7 in third phase elections.
Today, the Code of Conduct has also been implemented across the country. District officials have been informed. Arrangements have been made including voter lists and stations.
She said that there are total 4,94,49,469 voters are registered in Gujarat for the election in which 11,32,880 youth and 10,322 voters are more than 100 years of age. There will be 182 model election polling booths and 1274 booths will be conducted and managed by women staff and 182 model polling booths will be managed by physically challenged staff.
85 year plus senior citizens will have facilities of home voting in ballot paper mode and the same facility will also be for the 40% physically challenged voters.
For complaints regarding elections, there is a control room in Gandhinagar followed by control rooms in various districts.
756 flying squads, 206 accounting teams, 251 video viewing teams and 480 video surveillance teams formed for monitoring during the elections.
ADG law and order of Gujarat Police, Shamsher Singh in the press conference said 50,000 non bailable warrant issues.
20 para military forces companies have deployed in Gujarat by centre and 200 plus para military companies have been asked for elections.
For the Visavadar seat, which is not announced by the election commission, an officer said we have given the details about the seat including other five but we need to know further what seat has not been announced, said Ashok Patel, joint chief electoral officer of Gujarat.
