Another fake row transpires in Gujarat, as 156 people have been found using fake caste certificates in the last three years to gain admissions in schools, colleges, and universities under the reserved quota for backward classes.
Some even secured government jobs using these fraudulent documents.
These cases came to light after complaints were received by the scrutiny committee of the state’s social justice and empowerment department. Upon verification, it was found that all of these certificates were fake.
These admissions and government jobs are alleged to have been granted without any certificate verification.
The highest number of fake certificates, 34, were found in Ahmedabad.
Other districts where such cases were found include Kutch (10), Kheda (10), Banaskantha (12), Sabarkantha (11), Surendranagar (6), Patan (6), and Vadodara (7).
The government has ordered strict action against the fake candidates misusing the provisions.
Accordingly, the 156 fake certificates were cancelled, and the concerned departments were also informed regarding the cancellation of the admissions as well as the government jobs obtained using bogus credentials.
Students and candidates from backward sections of society avail themselves of these provisions through their caste certificates.
However, several elements resort to illicit means to avail of these benefits.
