An unfortunate accident on the Tarsali-Jambuva bypass of Vadodara took five lives of the same family when an Alto car rammed into a park trailer on the side of the road near the Girnar Hotel. A girl child is reported to have survived the accident.
According to initial reports, Pragnesh Patel, 34, a resident of Ajwa Road in Vadodara, had gone to his hometown with his family and was returning to Vadodara when his car rammed into a trailer parked on the side of the bypass at Tarsali-Jambuva Bypass late at night on Mar 3.
Patel’s wife Urvashi (31), his younger brother Mayur (30), the brother’s wife Bhoomika (28), and a seven to eight-month-old boy, including Patel, died in the accident, while a five to seven-year-old girl was saved.
The fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot for rescue operations as soon as the information was received. The rescue operations were conducted for over half an hour, according to reports.
Arrangements were made to remove the dead bodies trapped in the vehicle and send them for post-mortem at Sir Sayajirao General Hospital in Vadodara.
The driver of the trailer had absconded when the authorities arrived at the scene. The trailer had a Maharashtra number plate, but the trolly attached to it had a Haryana number plate.
“It is unfair that trailers are standing side by side all over the highway bypass,” Tripti Patel, a close relative of the family expressed her grief over this accident.
