Ahmedabad gets unseasonal rain

Parts of the city of Ahmedabad today afternoon received light to moderate rains. The rains began post 3.30 pm after cloudy morning and early afternoon.

The city’s atmosphere changed around 4 pm, and heavy rainfall with strong winds affected areas such as SG Highway, Ghuma, Bopal, Sarkhej, Thaltej, Gota, C.G. Road, Nehru Nagar, while Jodhpur, Prahalad Nagar, Shahibagh and Bapu Nagar experienced torrential rains.

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has in its bulletin predicted Light to moderate rain/thundershowers very likely at isolated places in all the districts of North Gujarat region; in the districts of South Gujarat region namely Baroda, ChhotaUdepur and Bharuch; in the districts of Saurashtra-Kutch namely Dwarka, Morbi, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Surendranagar, Botad, Bhavnagar and in Kutch Dry weather very likely in the remaining districts of the region.

IMD has pointed out the condition of Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over north Afghanistan & neighbourhood which lies over central Afghanistan and neighbourhood between 3.1 km & 12.6 km above mean sea level. The trough now runs from this cyclonic circulation to north Arabian Sea between 3.1 & 12.6 km above mean sea level.Yesterday’s induced Low Pressure Area over Southwest Rajasthan & adjoining Pakistan now lies as a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan & adjoining Punjab and extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level.’

Meanwhile during 6 am to 2 pm today, Anjar, Dhanera, Bhabhar, Deesa, Dwarka, Bechraji, Bhachau, Vadgam topped in rainfall figures. Among them Dhanera and Anjar had over one inch rains.
